Fitness, fun and facts

WHO ARE WE?

Shakers KIDS was established in 2016 by Tanya White, an energetic and passionate professional with a natural understanding of what children need and over eleven years of experience in childcare.

Shakers KIDS aims to educate children on the importance of a healthy lifestyle, physical fitness, and personal wellbeing.

We want to bring music and exercise firmly into children’s early years.

At Shakers KIDS we love nothing more than making your little ones happy by sharing our passion for music, dance, and exercise. We specialise in creating fun fitness sessions that are high energy, bursting with enthusiasm and great for kids of all abilities.

WHY CHOOSE US?

Here at Shakers KIDS we create fun fitness classes created to engage and develop your children. We are aware of the needs of each individual child and can cater to that, and this is what makes us unique.

Children, just like adults, need to unwind,
de-stress and have some fun.

So, by choosing Shakers KIDS we will be able to bring your children a weekly class that breaks up their daily routine and allows them to get involved in some energetic activities.

By choosing Shakers KIDS and having your children engage in a weekly physical activity they are more likely to improve their focus and sleep better at night. Physical activity is great for children in a variety of different ways, just like it is great for adults.

Our classes deliver lessons in a way that helps children develop without the normal pressure or expectancy of a standard classroom environment. We believe that it is vital that children develop their listening skills whilst learning how to engage and have fun with others.

Shakers KIDS makes exercise so much fun that the children won’t even notice they’re working out and learning! Once we motivate your children to exercise and dance they’ll be happier, healthier and more focused!

We’re proud to be unique thanks to our energy and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to welcome you aboard!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING US?

Shakers KIDS we aim to bring children’s love of sound, music and dance together
with exercise and the development of coordination and confidence, by providing fun, energetic and educational classes for children aged between 6 months and 8 years old.

Our main focus is on fun, as we believe that fun engages children and helps them to learn. Some of the important skills that children develop in our sessions include physical development, communication, language and literacy skills, as well as personal, social and emotional development:

Here’s just a few benefits:

Improved balance and coordination

Improved fine and gross motor skills

Improved listening and teamwork skills

Improved social and emotional skills

We incorporate exercises that sharpen and strengthen children’s fine motor skills, gross motor skills, movement patterns, physical skills and object control. Through our classes children can develop a sense of rhythm, increased balance and coordination and improved physical health, strength and stamina.

Our classes also promote better communication, language and literacy skills, by utilising vocabulary, days of the week, colours and counting through exercise and dance. Through dance education children can also learn the benefits of body language and non-verbal communication.

We also look to develop children’s concentration and confidence, and seek opportunities for teamwork and the development of social skills. Children will also learn how of follow instructions and listen, as well as develop their spatial awareness and help them to discover that exercise enables positive behavioural change and attitude through self-expression.

WHY IS FITNESS ESSENTIAL IN OUR CHILDREN’S EARLY YEARS?

British children are among the least active in the world! In the UK the number of children who continue to have an unhealthy and potentially dangerous weight is a national public health concern.

More than 1 in 5 two to ten-year-olds are overweight or obese.

Fitness is therefore essential for the health and wellbeing of our children, and it is important that we introduce exercise to children at a young age in order for them to have this as part of their everyday lifestyle.

Exercise involves a greater range of motion, coordination, strength and endurance than most other physical activities. This is accomplished through movement patterns that teach coordination and kinaesthetic memory. Young children are naturally active but exercise and dance offer them an avenue to expand movement possibilities and skills.

WE STRUCTURE OUR CLASSES AROUND THE EYFS

All of our classes meet early years foundation stage guidelines, and we’re committed to helping every nursery to meet their OFSTED requirements.
